OMR has an international reputation for academic and educational excellence in MSK radiology, sharing their expertise through lecturing on the latest practices and training other radiologists.
International lecturers
All OMR members lecture nationally and internationally and are invited speakers each year to the British, European and International Skeletal Societies, as well as numerous other conferences including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), European Erasmus and ESMRMB School of MRI programs.

Pioneers of musculoskeletal ultrasound
OMR co-organise the British Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course with other leading MSK radiologists from Leeds and Cambridge. This was the first musculoskeletal ultrasound course in the UK running from 1996 to the present day. We have also organised several other conferences in Oxford including the BSSR in 2022 and the popular ESSR Sports Imaging Course in 2024.
Widely published
Together, the OMR team have published over 700 peer reviewed papers and book chapters and are regularly asked to peer review articles for national and international journals.
Teaching and international outreach
We are involved in curriculum development and daily hands-on teaching, running a successful and competitive musculoskeletal radiology fellowship program at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. Many of the OMR team are educational supervisors for radiology trainees in Oxford and supervise medical students from Oxford University Medical School.
OMR are active in international outreach programmes teaching musculoskeletal radiology in Africa and the Middle East. We have organised 4 successful visits to sub-Saharan Africa in the past 3 years.
