Ultrasound
Ultrasound uses sound waves to create moving pictures from inside the body and is particularly useful for visualising muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints.
The equipment is similar to that used for looking at babies in the womb although specialised probes are used to provide better images of smaller structures such as tendons and ligaments.
Ultrasound can also be used on patients who need injections for painful soft tissue and joint conditions as it can be used to guide the needle to ensure that the injection is placed in precisely the right location.
Ultrasound is a highly specialised technique and the Radiologists of OMR are internationally recognised as experts in this area. We co-founded the original UK training course in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound nearly 20 years ago and during that time have trained many of the radiologists in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. Most of the other ultrasound training courses in the UK are run by radiologists originally trained by us.
